Thu May 16, 2013
On Weather Underground Dr Jeff Masters had mentioned the recent lack of tornadoes brought about by cold weather, which was a benefit. Fatalities caused by tornadoes in the daylight have decreased while fatalities from tornadoes at night have increased, said one study he cited on his blog.
5 questions for Michael Tanner -- a policy expert who says we've made poverty too 'comfortable'

What about the messed up taxation of the states? Many Southern states following the reclamation period after the civil war were so angered by war taxation that they "fixed" their state income tax systems to basically never be raised via needing a super-majority to raise state personal income tax. V …

The last disaster/rescue Carnival had by Mexico- losing power and no toilets for days, food issues, -will be paid by the US taxpayers. Remember how the US Navy stepped in? In reply to Onthebalconey- Many of the Southern States, after the period of reclamation -around 1875- following the civil war, were furious at the taxes they had to pay for the cost of the civil war and the freed slaves. @big Ed-Well the Catholic Church had the fear of God, for one thing. In Ireland the Catholic Church had the Power to take children away from single mothers or parents that drank too much, etc. Whatever they deemed fit or unfit, I guess. The police would stand back when the church walked in- and the …
Gun control groups punch back after defeat, targeting GOP senators
Wed Apr 24, 2013
The congressmen are bought and paid for. Don't even bring up morally bankrupt--- If the rationale they used to negate gun control was applied to drugs, every drug would be legal. The congress also removed any "control"out of the insider trading bill that the president put forth. Why didn't he veto …
Mormon bishop with Samurai sword saves neighbor from attack
Wed Apr 24, 2013
It is a good story. Great neighbors and a lesson to stay in shape!! @ Dwayne934031-That is a misleading statement about Obama and his cohorts. Here is a president who was focused on getting Osama bin Laden and did. I can remember when Bush called the CIA group off Bin Ladens' trail-about 2002. Do …
As Bush re-emerges on public stage, a mixed presidential legacy takes shape
Wed Apr 24, 2013
President Obama was a constitutional law professor at the U of Chicago which was in the top 20 at the time. One of the MOST difficult colleges there was. I think a lot of people who really hate him are latent or outright racists. He is very smart, and actually says something besides "awesome".
